Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Group

Oral and maxillofacial pathology specialists study and research the causes, processes and effects of diseases that affect the mouth and jaw.

While they do not generally provide direct patient care, they play a valuable role in working with the dental health care team to effectively and accurately diagnose patients.

At the Dental Faculty Practice, oral and maxillofacial pathologists are uniquely trained to utilize clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical or other examinations, as well as biopsies, in consultation with dentists providing patient care.

Services include:

  • Efficiently address both the diagnosis and treatment of oral disease
  • Rapidly and reliably establish the critical connections between oral disease and systemic disease
  • Combine expertise in histopathologic (microscopic examination of tissue) diagnosis, clinical diagnosis and treatment
